Cleaning and care
Moisture and heat can damage any wood finish.Over time, air and sunlight will change the color of natural wood.
Never pour oil, soap or water directly onto the furniture surface. Always use a cloth dampened with the substance being applied. Do not use cleaning products containing solvents or detergents.
As normal use wears away the oil polish, apply Bona oil when needed (1 to 3 years). Treat all sides of the wood, and always work in the direction of the grain.
About the wood
Sticotti’s shelving system uses a combination of woods. The main wall mount and vertical poles are made from Ipe wood, which is characterized for being a hard wood and serves as a key structural component for the whole hanging system. Shelves are made of MDF with a natural cedar veneer which lets us achieve more precision in the shelving slots and prevent knots from braking. Solid hard woods keep changing over time and could alter the shelving slots and break the system. Wood’s warmth and beauty work wonders for creating a sense of balance and calm within a space. It is an ancient, noble, living material that we have the privilege to live with and enjoy. The Sticotti workshop uses only certified woods that come from responsibly managed South American forests. This practice enables people to continue using wooden products without causing forest destructionmade in Argentina
